Jean Baird

Jean was actually Jean in all documents apart from her daughter's death record where she was Jane but I'm sure that was someone just being "proper".  I think we can be sure she was Jean in everyday life.  There were a few Jean or Jane Bairds born in the town in that period but names and ages pretty much indicate the one I've settled on, born to Archibald Baird and Janet Wybar.  That meant that her father and husband were both Archibald.  Her mother's surname Wybar is unusual but fairly common in the past in Scotland and can be considered a variation on Webber.  Janet Wybar was born in Riccartoun, a farm outside Linlithgow.

Jean was a few years younger than her husband but it was his second marriage and her first as far as I can see.  The marriage was irregular as the majority of Linlithgow marriages seem to have been in that era.
